Newton Stewart Walking Festival

Thank you for your interest in Newton Stewart Walking Festival. Often described as Scotland's best kept secret, Galloway is a wonderfully unspoilt landscape with an endless variety of routes for walkers to enjoy. Walkfest offers around 30 routes over 7 days, with transport and guides included, as well as a programme of evening social events.

The 2023 festival will take place from Friday 12th May to Thursday 18th May.

Please note this is a week later than originally planned, so as to avoid the weekend of the coronation of King Charles.

While we plan the 2023 programme, we have left the 2022 details on this site for information only.

A one page summary of our programme for 2022 is available here.

A map showing the location of each of our routes is available here.

Our evening events programme (details available here) are now also bookable online.

For the 2022 festival we prepared a participant information pack which provides guidance for those taking part in the festival, along with details of walk registration times and locations. A copy of the pack can be downloaded here
