Newton Stewart Walking Festival

Thank you for visiting the website for Newton Stewart Walking Festival. We have taken the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Newton Stewart Walking Festival as a result of the huge uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak. We have prepared a set of frequently asked questions to provide you with more details about our decision. Thank you for your understanding. We have left the details relating to the 2020 walking festival on this website for your information.

Galloway is a wonderful location for walking and whether you enjoy the challenge of our true hill walking experiences or discovering our beautiful countryside and rugged coastline, there is sure to be something for everyone. Our festival is more than a walk in the hills, along the coast or amongst wonderful woodlands - we aim to provide you with a unique and complete WalkFest experience.

Often described as Scotland's best kept secret, Galloway is a wonderfully unspoilt landscape with an endless variety of routes for walkers to enjoy. Walkfest offers around 30 routes over 7 days, with transport and guides included, as well as a programme of evening social events.

You'll see many wonderful photos of our routes on this website. We acknowledge all the photographers, including R Peace, J Deans, S Vest, R Gemmell, M Kneeshaw and B Mitchell.
