This afternoon walk takes in views of Loch Trool from all angles before climbing into the forest.
The route starts at Bruce’s Stone and we head up the valley through the oak woods, known as Galloway’s temperate rain forest. Round the top of Loch Trool we join the Southern Upland Way along, past the battle site of Bruce’s first victory in the wars of Independence. Walking along the south side of the Loch there are picture postcard views across the water until we arrive at Caldons. From there we make our way up a steep path through the woods and along a forest track to Stroan Bridge before crossing the road at the visitor centre and joining the easy route along the path to Glentrool Village where our supper awaits in the Hive.
We will contact your nearer the time with a menu to allow you to make your dinner choices. We envisage two courses will be around £20 and 3 courses will be priced at £25 (paid separately).
