** SORRY - THIS WALK IS FULLY BOOKED. PLEASE CONTACT US TO BE ADDED TO THE RESERVE LIST ** This lovely, mainly flat, coastal route follows the western shore of Wigtown Bay from the former fishery at Innerwell to the attractive harbour village of Garlieston.
After alighting from the bus there is a short walk down to the shore at Innerwelll where there used to be a Fishery, although the nets have gone now. The walk, accompanied by a wildlife guide with a fund of natural history knowledge, then follows a lovely wood land path over and around fallen trees amongst an abundance of May flowers. It is interesting to look across the bay at Cairnsmore of Fleet and Cairnharrow to the north and Carrick beach to the east. On a very clear day the Cumberland hills can be seen.
The walk continues round Eggerness Point and into Garlieston Bay. We finish off with the option to enjoy lunch at either the Harbour Inn or The Hive cafe, both in Garlieston (separate charge for lunch).
Please note that recent storms mean that there are some trees down along the route, which will need to be navigated over, under, or around.
