This route climbs one of Galloway's most distinctive peaks, Curleywee, with its craggy top.
Anyone coming to walk in Galloway must include Curleywee as it has a unique position to appreciate the neighbouring ranges as well as those further afield.
The route this year is westerly starting close to White Laggan Bothy meaning all the hard work is in the first part of the walk. Two kilometres of forestry road is followed by a steep climb to White Hill and Curleywee, an ideal point for a coffee and photo opportunity.
A steep descent to the Nick is followed by traversing the ridge to Bennanbrack and the high point of the day Lamachan (717 metres). Larg Hill is the final top before descending past Sheuchan Craig to Benailsa picking up a track that leads to the finish in the Cree Valley at Drannandow.
