This route starts at the memorial to the Russian Cruiser, Varyag with its intriguing history, and then follows the coast to the village of Lendalfoot.
It climbs past the fifteenth century castle and an even older motte. Another steady climb reaches the pass below Knockormal Hill before a drop into a small valley followed by a second climb to the ridge above Colmonell.
A steep drop past the Deaf Stone leads into the village. Here the walk enters the Stinchar valley below the formidable Knockdolian Fell (the false Craig) and wends its way beside the rippling salmon river eventually reaching the coastal village of Ballantrae with refreshments available at the garden centre cafe.
